Welcome Oxford Isis Korfball Club is a brand new club set up in 2007. We are looking to recruit people who are new to Korfball, so if you haven't played before, don't worry, there are other beginners too. All you need is to be able to run round a bit, and some hand/eye coordination is useful as well. Anyone who has played sports before can easily pick up the game.
We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford University, Didcot, Reading & Milton Keynes, as well as tournaments around the country.
You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to netball, basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and various abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly.

With 15 minutes to go and Uni two goals ahead it had looked like Isis's first match would end in defeat. The match started well for Uni, wth two quick goals from Martin and Jo taking Uni into the lead, but Isis quickly evened things up, and the first half continued at the same high tempo with the sides trading goals. Martin had to sub off part way through the first half as he was unwell, and Halim came on in his place. It was six all at half time, and again early in the second half Uni drew two ahead. Another of their boys then had to leave injured, and with no male subs left, Uni played one of their girls as a boy for part of the second half. With 15 minutes to go Uni were still two goals in front, but Isis drew level and in the last minute of the game scored again to end up in front. Thanks to everyone who played and to Mark Bright for kindly offering to Ref. Coach Max's report and video clip will be added shortly. |
