Welcome Oxford Isis Korfball Club is a brand new club set up in 2007. We are looking to recruit people who are new to Korfball, so if you haven't played before, don't worry, there are other beginners too. All you need is to be able to run round a bit, and some hand/eye coordination is useful as well. Anyone who has played sports before can easily pick up the game.
We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford University, Didcot, Reading & Milton Keynes, as well as tournaments around the country.
You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to netball, basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and various abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly.

Here is the OKA Indoor league information
The information below cover matches up to Christmas. See the calendar menu item for all the up to date details. ----- Dear fixture secs,
Please find enclosed the league games until Christmas. ( the rest should follow soon).
The number of teams has inflated quite a lot this year. Even though it is great for korfball, it is more difficult to administer. Therefore, during the course of the year, try to inform me of potential issues asap. Comments:
- Each team will play ten games in the league A team will play the other teams in their division once ( 7 games). At the end of it, the top ( or bottom) four will play each other (3 games).
- if your club intend to enter the BKA cup and there is a clash with some league games, please let me know asap and we will postpone the games as BKA cup takes priority over the league. the oka is encouraging clubs to play in the bka cup.
- Eligibility rule: Div1 teams need to nominate their players ( 4 boys , 4 girls) before their first game ( Uni teams are allowed to wait until before the team plays their 4th game). As last year, only three of them can play down at any one time. Failing to nominate players on time will mean that the starting team is deemed nominated. There will be any opportunity to re-nominate players after the first part of the league.
- Cancellations, late postponements: they will be monitored. In the unfortunate situation of a club cancels 2 games within a 6 game run, a team may be asked to withdraw from the league ( see minutes of oka meeting).
- Tie break rule: see minutes of oka meeting.
- As in the years before, most games are in Cheney school. However, the following games have not been allocated: R1 v BB, MKC v MK3, MK1 v MK2. It makes sense that they are played locally. However, as finding a ref may be difficult, these teams may have to use their own club refs ( I realise this is not ideal). Can I ask the secs involved to organise themselves in liaison with Paul M. and myself. ( Let me know if you want to play those games in Cheney if it is important for you to have a "neutral " ref)
- It is the fixture sec responsibility ( and the whole club actually) to look after their club refs and make sure referrees are where they are supposed to be when they are supposed to be. Paul will inform you more about our concerning ref situation.
Hopefully things will go as smoothly as possible.
Damien
