Welcome Oxford Isis Korfball Club is a brand new club set up in 2007. We are looking to recruit people who are new to Korfball, so if you haven't played before, don't worry, there are other beginners too. All you need is to be able to run round a bit, and some hand/eye coordination is useful as well. Anyone who has played sports before can easily pick up the game.
We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford University, Didcot, Reading & Milton Keynes, as well as tournaments around the country.
You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to netball, basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and various abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly.

Both league teams lose by a single goal
I don't remember the final scores, bit both Isis teams lost by a single goal. Isis 2 were playing a number of beginners, and the team practice earlier in the afternoon definitely helped in attack. The defence was excellent, and the team was neck and neck with City at half time. The second half saw very few goals, but City pulled one ahead after about 20 minutes, with Isis levelled with about 5 minutes to go. Unfortunately one of the City 1 first team subs made a very good long shot to take City 1 ahead with about 2 minutes to go. Isis 1 started well, quickly pulling two ahead, but were pulled back to a level score at half time. The first part of the second half drifted for some time, with City going 4 up, but a timeout and tactics change with about 10 mnutes to go inspired the team, who pulled one back immediately, City then scored again to make the gap four, and finally Isis scored three in a short space of time to bring the scores to within one goal. |
