Welcome
Oxford City Korfball Club was set up in 1992 and has become the biggest club in Oxfordshire with three teams and around 30 regular players. We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford University, Didcot, & Milton Keynes, as well as tournaments around the country.

You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to netball, basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly.

Littleport Lions beat Exeter in the final. City teams come 6th and 11th.

12 teams gathered in Oxford on saturday for the first OKA tour competition of the summer season. Summer wouldn't be an appropriate word for the weather though, which was threatening to pour down over the weekend. Fortunately it was dry for most of the day, with only a small amount of drizzle around lunchtime. Some Oxford City members were optimistically applying Suntan lotion early on!

Three pitches were setup, and the 20 minute games kicked off with two pools of six teams. One team dropping out meant that a scratch team was formed on the day, with Dom McDonald organising players.

After the round-robin games, and a short break for lunch, the playoffs saw Littleport Lions, Exeter, Milton Keynes, and Horfield battling for the top four places. Littleport eventually overcoming Exeter in the final, and Milton Keynes beating Horfield in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Oxford City entered two teams on the day, as well as making up the majority of the scratch team. Both City teams had some good results, with City 1 beating Bec, drawing two of their other pool matches, and only going down 2 - 0 to eventual winners Littleport. In the playoffs they beat Basingstoke 2 - 0, and then narrowly lost 3 - 2 to Taunton to finish 6th. City 2 had mixed results, but drew with Abingdon in the first round, and beat them in the playoffs. Nick Harris scoring an excellent long-shot at one point.

City 2 game details to be added shortly.

Full final tournament positions to be added shortly, as I don't know who won the Oxford Uni versus Basingstoke playoff.
